2015 Audiobook Challenge: Year End Wrap Up

There are still a couple days left in the year, but I’m not going to finish my current audiobook before then; so it’s time to report on my audiobook challenge.

This year, I set a goal to read 52 books, and as part of that I’ve separately signed up for an Audiobook Challenge, which is being hosted by The Book Nympho and Hot Listens. I set a goal for 15-20 of my books this year to be audiobooks, which they call the “Socially Awkward (Don’t Talk to Me)” Level.

Well…I ended up listening to 22 audioboks!! You can see everything I listened to this year on my Goodreads shelf. You’ll see that a majority of those was the Sookie Stackhouse series, narrated by Johanna Parker. Boy, did I love listening to her bring sassy Sookie to life!

I love that I’ve finally found a way to love audiobooks. Doing this challenge really helped me to seek out narrators I would like and actually listen to. I look forward to continuing my audiobook challenge in 2016 (see my reading challenge post here)!

2015 Audiobook Challenge: Q3 Check-In

I can’t believe it’s time for the Q3 Audiobook challenge check-in! It’s October already? What??

This year, I set a goal to read 52 books, and as part of that I’ve separately signed up for an Audiobook Challenge, which is being hosted by The Book Nympho and Hot Listens. I set a goal for 15-20 of my books this year to be audiobooks, which they call the “Socially Awkward (Don’t Talk to Me)” Level.

I’m so excited to report that I’ve completed SIXTEEN audiobooks so far! WOO HOO! I hit my audiobook goal! You can see what I’ve listened to on my Goodreads shelf where I’m keeping track for this challenge.

And yes, I’m still behind in my total goal of 52 books for the year though. As you may recall, I was in a reading funk for a good chunk of the year, but I think I’ve finally broken through that; so now to see if I can catch back up!

2015 Audiobook Challenge: Q2 Check-In

I have been in a “book funk” for much of the year. Somehow, I lost my reading mojo and just haven’t found a book that is making me NEED to read it. Thankfully, I’ve had audiobooks to help keep me moving towards my reading/listening goal this year. I set a goal to read 52 books, and as part of that I’ve separately signed up for an Audiobook Challenge, which is being hosted by The Book Nympho and Hot Listens. I set a goal for 15-20 of my books this year to be audiobooks, which they call the “Socially Awkward (Don’t Talk to Me)” Level. Cute, right?

So here we are at the half way point of the year (say what??) and I’ve completed ELEVEN audiobooks!! This is in large part due to falling in love with Sookie Stackhouse (I’m on book #10). You can see what else I’ve listened to on my Goodreads shelf where I’m keeping track for this challenge.

(Note: I am behind in my total goal of 52 books for the year though…having completed only 21 so far (3 books behind). I hope to make that up this summer. :) )

2015 Audiobook Challenge: Q1 Check-In

This year, in addition to setting a goal to read 52 books, I signed up for my first Audiobook Challenge, which is being hosted by The Book Nympho and Hot Listens. I set a goal for 15-20 of my books this year to be audiobooks, which they call the “Socially Awkward (Don’t Talk to Me)” Level. Cute, right?

Tomorrow is their first quarter check in – so let’s see how I’ve done!

I created a separate Goodreads shelf so I can easily tag my completed audiobooks this year. And so far…(drumroll, please!)…I have completed FOUR of my books on audio! I’m right on track with my goal! Yay, me!

Side note: I’ve been in a reading funk lately – nothing has grabbed my attention and made me want to curl up non-stop with a book, so I hope to find something SOON that sucks me back in. If you have a must-read, my-favorite-book-of-all-time recommendation, I’d love to hear it! Even with my reading funk, I’ve read/listened to 12 books total so far this year, and Goodreads says that means I’m right.on.track.

Audiobook Challenge

Last year, I finally found some audiobooks that I LOVED. My prior experience has been sad, with bad narrators ruining books for me. (Honestly, the books would have been so much better in my own head.) With a few under my belt now that were so much better because of great narrators, I’ve got an audiobook going at all times. I am lucky enough that I work from home and don’t commute, but that means I’m not in the car a whole lot. But even just running errands, I can get 20-30 minutes of listening in while out and about.

So…I’ve decided to sign up for the 2015 Audiobook Challenge, which is being hosted by The Book Nympho and Hot Listens. There is also a Goodreads group that you can join.

There is no real commitment, other than just a fun way to give yourself a goal. I’ve signed up at the “Socially Awkward (Don’t talk to me) 15-20” level (they’ve got fun names for their levels), since I seem to be able to listen to 1-2 audiobooks per month (as long as it’s not an Outlander book!). I’ve created a separate Goodreads shelf myself for tagging all my completed audiobooks this year to help me keep track. And since I’m able to layer on audiobooks in addition to times I am actually reading a book, I think I’m going to up my goal for the year from 48 to 52 books. I know that doesn’t sound like much, but since I’ve already got two completed books under my belt, I think I can do it. (Granted, I started them both in 2014, but it’s a great way to get a jump on the new year.

Do you have a reading goal? Do you have a sub-goal for audiobooks? If you’re on Goodreads, leave a link below. I’d love to follow you and see what you’re reading. I’m always looking for recommendations for really great books!
