Little Blue Bird

Did you know that March is National Crochet Month? Well it is, and I’ve been enjoying a few new crochet projects! I’m determined to crochet more – but no scarves (unless specifically requested) as I want to break out and expand on the kinds of things I do. I’m currently working on a new throw blanket (great to work on while watching House of Cards), and just finished my first crocheted bag last night (pictures coming soon).

I also want to make more amigurumi (or stuffed animals). I had signed up for a few Craftsy classes and one of them is by the fantastic Stacey Trock – Amigurumi – Woodland Animals. Stacey is one of my favorite crochet designers and I love her FreshStitches blog. I’ve even made one of her amigurumi patterns before.

In the first class, we made this cute little bird.

I LOVED the first class in this series! While I have been crocheting for a little bit, I learned some fantastic tips and techniques that made this little blue bird fast and easy. The tips I learned have already made their way into other projects and I’m feeling more confident to try new patterns.

Stacey even introduced me to a new crochet designer from South Africa (Heidi Bears) and I’ve picked up two of her patterns to make this year (the turtle and the hippo). I can’t wait!

Are you crocheting something fun this month?
