A Scarf That’s Easy as 1-5-3

No that’s not a typo…to make this scarf you need:

ONE really large hook (I used an S hook)

FIVE skeins of yarn in coordinating colors

about THREE hours

Ok so the original pattern I used calls this an Easy 2-hr Scarf Crochet Pattern, but for me it ended up taking about three hours.

This scarf was so fun to make. It was a little awkward at first working with 5 strands of yarn at the same time*, and a giant plastic crochet hook.

And when I say giant, I mean GIANT:

Here is a close up of the stitch – and also is probably the most color-accurate of my pictures.

After following the original pattern, I decided that this scarf just didn’t feel “finished” though, so I added fringe on the edges and it made all the difference in the world.

Because of this fun and simple pattern, I think I’ll be able to make some for Christmas gifts this year.

*Be sure to read my post on working with five skeins of yarn without getting all tied up in knots.

This scarf looks so cozy! I’m a fan of quick projects when it comes to yarn – with two preschoolers, complicated doesn’t get done. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I don’t have little ones, but I like quick and easy too! :-) And yes, it’s super cozy and will hopefully make for some nice Christmas gifts this year.
