30 Days of Thankfulness Day 6

I am thankful for the freedoms we share in this country, and the privilege to vote!

Here in Texas, we’ve had early voting available for the last couple weeks. For a variety of reasons, I did not get a chance to do that. But in a way I’m glad. I am getting out today to vote with the majority of America, and I love the energy of that.

We are fortunate to have so many freedoms in this country. Your right to vote is one of them; and our freedom of speech goes hand-in-hand with that, in my opinion. While so much of the political rhetoric is negative – and that part saddens me – the fact that we have the right to have our opinions and can voice them freely is amazing.

While I don’t talk politics with most people, I love that my husband and I can have intelligent, intellectual conversations about our opinions..and that we both respect each other’s rights enough that we never try to sway each other. We challenge each other, and question each other, and I LOVE that. But there have been times that we disagree and vote differently. I joke that we “cancel each other out”, but really it’s the epitome of what this freedom gives us.

So no matter who you support, and no matter what your reason…let your voice be heard today and get out and Vote! Remember, it’s not just about the President (although that is a HUGE item on the ballot this year, of course), but there are propositions in your areas that need you to weigh in. Make sure you get your say!

Did you vote today?

Day 6: I’m so thankful that my husband and I both have good jobs and a place to live and food to eat. We may not have everything we want but we certainly have everything we need, and that’s what’s really important. Not everyone can say this!

Oh Wendy it is so true, huh? It’s sometimes easy to take that for granted…I try and remember to be really thankful for that too, especially in this trying economic times.

      • Wendy says:

Yes, absolutely true! We are really so lucky to have what we all have…..we get caught up in caring about who has what, who wears what, etc. and really does it matter? What matters is faith, family and friends. :)

Yay for rocking the vote, whether you “cancel each other out” or not. It is an important privilege and duty.

So I was wondering where your thankfulness posts were, since they weren’t on facebook. Turns out I thought I subscribed to this blog but maybe didn’t confirm cause I wasn’t getting your notifications. Fixed now.
