30 Days of Thankfulness Day 17

Today I am thankful for lazy Saturdays. Days when you can sleep in, lounge around, nothing specific planned and anything is possible. It’s a day to recharge your batteries and focus on fun, and that is what today is all about for me.

What are you thankful for today?

I’m thankful for lazy Saturdays, too! Although, I’m not having one today.

Today, I’m thankful for God’s protection over my family. There have been instances where things could’ve gone wrong, or people didn’t believe things would turn out okay. Before we were married, I was on my way to see my husband and it was raining and I was going 70 mph on Interstate 45. All of a sudden, I hydroplaned and I went off the freeway with my cruise control set to 70. I went into the muddy ditch and spun around 3 times before my car landed inches away from trees. Amazingly, I wasn’t hurt and my car was fine. That was God’s grace. My husband also had a scare a couple of years ago and thought he was going to lose his job. We prayed and hoped for the best, and he kept his job. Finally, when I became pregant, I was considered high-risk because of my age. After going to my second round of blood work, the results came back the my risk was increased that my son would have DS (Down Syndrome). The risk for a 40 year old woman is already 1 in 90, but my risk was 1 in 60, because of how my blood work turned out. Our doctor suggested a risky procedure to tell if there was DS, and we turned it down, trusting in God. Our doctor even sat us down to give us the option of doing the unimaginable: terminating the pregnancy. We contined to trust in God….and today I’m a proud mother of a completely healthy boy! There are so many ways that God ‘has our back’ if we just trst in Him.
